I am so honored to have met Roc Raida!! He broke down some scratches for us to try and experiment with at home which was great for some of us who are really looking into learning more about DJ'ing. He went over Serato which was so critical because a lot of people think that you are not a DJ if you are using your laptop and Serato. But as Roc Raida said, using Serato doesn't take away any of your DJ skills or give you any that you didn't have before. You still have to know how to blend and scratch, you just have the convenience of NOT carrying around a billion cases of records everything that you need is right there. By utilizing Serato it gives you easier access to songs that you might have because you can download them right then and there. So when you see a DJ with Serato don't hate..appreciate! :) He went over party DJing and told us some pretty crazy stories about things that he has done.

Thank you so much to Roc Raida for giving us something that we could take home and practice and grow on!

But the most important thing I learned this week about the music from all the originators about a party or a jam is that you don't need to have breaks all night long. It is so dope to have music you can chill to and just groove with in between getting down. The whole point of it used to be to go get girls for most of the guys...they wouldn't dance all night and be disgusting and sweaty they would only get down on the break, and the rest of the time you could just dance and vibe with people and it was a party! That to me sounds like more fun than just battling all night long! :)
